Spell checking

Niki supports spell checking.

Spell checking is supported by the binary version of Niki. If you are the source version of Niki see NikiInstall. If you are using 64-bit libraries spelling may not supported.

The speller needs the GNU aspell dictionaries installed. If there are no dictionaries installed the <Spell> button will not be shown. See NikiInstall.

spellcheck enables / disables spell checking.

flag_en describes the current language and opens the LanguageSelection menu.

flag_white : the language cannot be determined, unknown language, mixed languages, etc

flag_auto : the language cannot be determined, unknown language, mixed languages, etc

The spell checker tries to determine the language of the Niki and checks the spelling. Misspelled words are highlighted red.

You can force the language of a Niki using the formatter

    ---language dictionary

If you insert more than one formatter the last one will be used.

    ---language none

disables spell checking.

The dictionaries installed on your system are printed by Niki:

   Niki -dictionaries

In most cases they are like

    en, en_GB, en_US, de, de_DE, fr or fr_FR

Spelling a word

Putting the mouse over a word and clicking the left mouse button while pressing the <Shift> key (<Shift>+<Mouse 1>) opens the SpellSuggestion menu.
