The most important programs required are the classical tar and gzip. The tar command is used with options like tar czf ... . That is KaTeker assumes the gnu version of tar is installed, that's the Linux standard.
The archiver dar is an alternative to tar. It is optimized for saving data onto disks. KaTeker will use dar if it is installed. You can get dar at http://dar.linux.free.fr .
If you got a CD recorder mkisofs and cdrecord should be already installed. It is used by other graphical user interfaces like cdroast or xcdroast. If these programs are not running on your system KaTeker will not too.
KaTeker uses cdrecord.

Avinash Chopde's cdlabelgen version 3.0.0 is used to print
CD labels.
You can get cdlabelgen at http://www.aczone.com/tools/cdinsert/#download.
KaTeker
includes cdlabelgen. If you installed cdlabelgen at
/usr/local/cdlabelgen KaTeker will use it. There can be
problems if cdlabelgen is older than version 3.0.0. In this case
deinstall calabelgen. It will be reinstalled with KaTeker.
KaTeker uses cdlabelgen.
