If the KaTeker standard documentation is not installed the integrated help is not available.
It is a god idea to use a help dialog in a window of its own:
Click the <Help> button. Then the help window comes up The <Close> Button closes the Help.
There is a balloon help. If the mouse is moved over a field or button there will come up a short help message. This message is shown in the status line at the bottom of the window too. You can switch the balloon on/off by the <Balloon> button. The message in the status line will be shown also when the balloon is off.
This is the first dialog you'll see when you start tkateker the first time. The dialogs of tkateker are organized like a notebook with taps. On the top there are those Buttons which are visible at all dialogs. At the bottom is the status line. The dialogs are compact without description of the fields. To get the description of a field, touch it by the mouse. The description is shown in the status line and - when activated - in a balloon. You can switch on/off the balloon help with the <Balloon> button.
The <Quit> button terminates tkateker. If you changed configuration parameters it you can save your changes. It the configuration changed the "Configuration changed" field is activated. The "Backup job running" field is activated when an concurrent backup job is running.
If dialogs not allowed because of the state of tkateker, they are disabled. The example show the "Setup->Main parameter" dialog. All other dialogs but the "Help" dialog are disabled because tkateker has to be initialized initially. You have to define the save root and optionally the create root. Then you can select the CD recorder etc. This dialog shows a short description how to setup KaTeker. Please follow the instruction. For testing you should use the suggestions. You should read the page Setting up before setting up a production backup system.
There is a copy of welcome screen at "Quick set up".
There are special pages describing the setup of devices and backup sets.
