Help : while the splitting process is running it is a good
idea to read the associated help page
A backup set is a set of files and directories. There are backup sets predefined when tkateker is started the first time.
When the save root is defined the first time KaTeker starts a process defining the default backup sets. If KaTeker is started by a normal user the home directory of the user is analyzed and only one backup set is generated. If KaTeker is started by root some important system directories and /home are analyzed and several backup sets are generated. The backup sets generated for root are described on the page Define root backup sets. Analyzing the directories is splitting up the directories into a set of archives which will fit onto a CD. The archives should be much smaller then the size of a CD. Then is simpler to distribute the archives onto several CDs and filling the CDs very well.
The example above describes some abnormal cases, of curse. It can happen that there are some files which do not fit onto a CD. They will be ignored und you'll get a hint too.
The home directory of /home/hfk is split into 16 archives. These will be listed in the dialog Generated backup sets.
There are some hints:
Files are to large to fit on a media. They will be not saved.
Files or directories are not readable. The will be not saved.
The estimated size of all archives can by larger than there is free on the media holding the save root. The estimated size does not consider that the data in archives is compress.
Some directories are not included in any backup set and should be handled manually using the button <Change> of the "Setup->Sets" dialog. See Define root backup sets.
