KaTeker provides a command line interface to restore data as well a GUI interface.

Use the GUI interface to restore files lost.
The command line interface is useful to restore Data when the system crashed. This is described at Restoring from scratch .

KaTekers archives are tar or dar archives located in a directory tree similar to the data saved. The names of the tar or dar archives describe the data in the archive. This structure is mirrored to backup media like CD. That is you need no special software to access the archives. KaTeker provides tools to find a file on the media. The GUI is very efficient to find select and restore a special version of files from the archives including those saved on many media.
