Cancel
: the backup job
This dialog comes up, when a backup job like master, update or save on media is started. It shows some information on the state of the current job. You can cancel the job. This should be done only if there is something very wrong. Canceling a backup job has a lot of side effects. Depending on the CD recorder (its driver) it can happen that the whole system crashes. Canceling a master or update job results in a inconsistent set of archive files. It is necessary to rerun the job. It will be reported as an error in the log.
The progress of some jobs is reported. There is the problem that the time of the backup jobs cannot be estimated when the jobs starts. The progress of master or backup jobs visualizes how many archives are saved irrespectively of their size.
The example shows a special case. The master is saved on a notebook. The CD recorder does not support loading of media. Then a user dialog is necessary. Furthermore the type of the media cannot determined. These messages should not come with a standard recorder.
A running job can be canceled using the <Cancel> button. The job may not react immediately. This is because a running tar or dar subprocess has to finish before the backup job stops. Be patient, please. Otherwise you get inconsistent data.
